Ranges to River NRM Group

The SA MDB NRM Board was formed in 2005 and undertakes an active role in the management of natural resources within its region in accordance with the Natural Resources Management Act 2004.

The SAMDB NRM Board established four NRM Groups to provide a locally focused link between the board’s strategic position and the activities of the community.

The Ranges to River NRM Group is actively involved in the development and implementation of the NRM plan at this local level. We provide advice to the SA MDB NRM Board on local community issues and promote public awareness of integrated natural resource management with an emphasis on good land management practices and pest plant and animal control.

The Ranges to River Group has a long term goal to encourage cultural change that recognises the limits imposed by a fragile and fickle environment. We are committed to working with all levels of government and with the community to bring about this change for the benefit of this and future generations.

“As a member of the R2R Group I am committed to advocating the concerns of my community with regard to NRM issues to the SAMDBNRM Board. I will do everything in my power to ensure that communication is 2-way, I will share the knowledge that I gain from the group and board with the community I represent. The R2R group will meet regularly in order to share our skills, knowledge and experiences with the Board and I will make my time available to provide input into the board’s projects. I will continue to encourage all NRM Volunteers within my community to improve their skills and knowledge so they can continue to share their efforts and innovations in NRM to the benefit of all.”

Public Group meetings are usually held on the third Tuesday of each month with some variations. Meeting dates are advertised in the local papers.
