Regional Integrated Vulnerability Assessment (IVA) for the Natural Resources SA Murray Darling Basin

“An integrated step toward economic, social and environmental wellbeing in the face of long-term climate change”

The following stakeholders will be actively involved in the project:

  • SA Murray-Darling Basin Natural Resources Management Board
  • Regional Development Australia (Murraylands and Riverland)
  • Local Government Association
  • Murray & Mallee Zone Emergency Management Committee
  • University of Adelaide
  • Department for Environment & Natural Resources

The stakeholders will contribute to the development of a vulnerability assessment of the economic, social and environmental assets for the region that:

  • Regionalizes climate data and risk at a finer scale
  • Develops a agreed reference point for regional organisations
  • Considers mitigation actions
  • Looks at the capacity from within a system to adapt to the impacts
  • Develops adaption options and prioritises them
  • Considers risk transference where actions may affect others adversely
  • Merges project activities for long term sustainability

The process is consistent with the Draft Climate Change Adaptation Framework for South Australia

The Phase 1 report was completed in November 2012. Please follow the link to access the report - Gap Identification Report
